Pak - Sri Lanka

Pak - Sri Lanka friendship is time tested and this friendship will continue to flourish. Both countries have helped out each other in the past and there is tremendous good will between Islamabad and Colombo. Therefore, the time is right for both countries to expand their relationship and explore opportunities which are mutually beneficial. These remarks were made by His Excellency Air Chief Marshal (R) Jayalath Weerakkody, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan during a visit to Modernage Public School and College. Honorable Mr. Weerakkody had come to Abbottabad to personally meet and thank the students and faculty of Modernage for reaching out to Sri Lanka during a very difficult time when Sri Lankan Cricket team was attacked in Lahore. While addressing the students and the faculty, honorable Weerakkody described how this very genuine effort by Modernites touched not only the Sri Lankan cricket team, but also everyone else who heard about this innocent sincere gesture by Modernage.

Abdul Wahid Mir, Principal Modernage thanked the High Commissioner for visiting Modernage. He also suggested that Sri Lanka and Pakistan should collaborate in the fields of education, tourism and explore other options where both nations can learn from each other. Mr. Mir also announced that Modernage would set up a scholarship/training program/teacher training initiative especially designed for Sri Lankan teachers so that Modernage could transfer contemporary teaching skills to those who have been selected by Sri Lankan government.

  1. My sincere congratulations to Modernage for the continued efforts to "Teach Forward", and to prepare students for the complex world in which they will live and work. One of the most important skills lies the knwledge of how to work with others---and this knowledge comes from direct experience. Principal Abdul Wahid Mir, and Sumera Wahid, you are creating a model of Experiential Education for others in your country and in Sri Lanka: First, with the student exchanges that took place last year, and now with the out reach to Sri Lankan teachers. I am very proud to be your friend and colleague. Congratulations, and "best teaching"! Dr. Judy
