Juniors’ Joy 2012, 2nd National Meet for Students of Primary Level

The 2nd National Meet of Primary Level Students was held in the Mukhtar Masood Auditorium at Modernage on Sat 14th April, 2012. Youngsters of ages three to eleven years from twenty eight different schools of Abbottabad, Mansehra, Havelian, Hassanabdal, Khanpur and D.I. Khan participated in the event. The ambience of the auditorium vibrated with the energetic souls of youngsters with sparkling eyes and natural talents. Eight different streams of the event included Poem Recitation, Joke Telling, Folk Song, Folk Dance, Card Making, Collage Making, Water Colouring and Play Dough Modeling Competitions. The students were given time to prepare their displays according to specified themes and rules defined earlier. Judges of different streams carefully examined each display and had a tough time in deciding the best projects. An old Modernite Adil Khan, who has recently released his musical album with Infinity Works, also appeared as a guest star and rocked the audience with his music. Prize distribution was held at the end of the function. The overall trophy for 1st Best Performance was bagged by Jinnah Basic School & College, Mansehra, 2nd by Army Burn Hall College for Boys, Abbottabad and 3rd by Yousra Montessori School, Khanpur. However, everyone was a winner in the sense that they got a chance to learn from each other. Where the platform of Juniors’ Joy challenged the abilities of the little ones, it also gave a chance of networking to teachers and educationists.

Principal’s Message
The Principal Mr. Abdul Wahid Mir in his welcome address stressed upon the need of collective efforts to provide children with opportunities of creative work in their early years of life. He said that it is more important to become citizens who can differentiate between the vice and the virtue than citizen who only aim at better grades and positions in examinations. We, educationists, should share experiences and facilities of infra structure with each other to create a synergized environment that will lay the foundation of a new Pakistan- a Pakistan that is free of terrorism, poverty and ignorance. He welcomed the students and teachers who had felt the need to give a chance to our youngsters to display their creative abilities and had come from far and near to participate in the Juniors Joy.

Keynote Address:
The keynote address was delivered Ms Saima Khalid from Early Years Learning Association under Professional Teachers Association Network at Agha Khan University Institute for Educational Development. She said that the functionality of the brain is optimal during the early childhood and it is the right time to give meaningful input to children. Interactive classrooms and multi sensorial input in a low anxiety environment helps the children to develop stronger connections of the neurons which leads to development of creativity and reasoning. We are thankful that she came all the way from Lahore to be a part of this program.
