Use of Computer and Modernage (By: Mr. Waqar Asghar, Lecturer in English)

The Internet and the computers have bridged up the gaps among different nations and the borders are diminishing with each passing day. How can the importance of the computer and Internet be discarded at any level in any organization? The use of computer and the Internet is a regular feature of teaching and learning at our institute. The facility of Multimedia is available at our institute that is easily accessible to students and teachers and they carry out frequent Multimedia Presentations. It is mandatory for students to prepare their presentations on regular basis which helps them to develop their expertise in computer and presentation skills .At Modernage, students and teachers are provided with the Internet facility so that they could become part of this flying world and get acquainted with the advancements occurring in the various fields of life.Another important feature of our institute is Compu Wiz and Multimedia Presentation competition. The students prepare and present multimedia presentations about particular theme, and the quiz competition about computer is another segment of this event. The students themselves reported that this competition gave them confidence, vision and an innovative thought. Computer and multimedia is used for English Language classes as well. Documentaries are shown to the students of different levels comprising of various activities for English comprehension. The most commonly used activity is dictoglass and it reinforces the writing skills of the students. Frequent question- answer session is carried out to enhance the speaking skills of the students .The kids of the recent era are very clever and they do not permit either their teachers or their parents to bar them from computer. I am talking about students of Kindergarten. They have access to computer for painting, colouring and watching cartoons. Educational CD's are played for them. Kids very often practise oral drills imitating the same accent they listen to. The computer plays a very vital role in teaching and learning. It is the constituent component of modern teaching and the concept of learning and teaching is incomplete without computer and multimedia.
